Things to know about personal loan repayments

  • Set up automatic repayments before your first repayment is due to avoid defaulting on your loan.
  • Register for NAB Internet Banking to set up repayments using online banking.
  • You can set up a regular repayment from a NAB transaction account  using online banking.
  • You can set up a direct debit repayment from a non-NAB account using a direct debit form.

Set up repayments from a NAB account

Before loan drawdown

You can set up a direct debit from your NAB transaction account  before your personal loan has been drawn down. You can only do this when the status on the application tracker is set to ‘To do’ and the direct debit option is still available.

Instructions for web browsers

  1. Log into NAB Internet Banking with your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID and password.

  2. Under the ‘Products’ tab, select Applications.

  3. Select your application and then select Loan Accounts.

  4. Choose the repayment frequency you’d like.

  5. View the calculated repayment amount.  For other options, change the repayment frequency again.

  6. Choose which account you want your scheduled repayments to be taken from.

  7. Select Save repayments.

After drawdown

If you’ve already drawn your loan, you can set up a regular payment from your NAB transaction account  using the NAB app or NAB Internet Banking.

At the time of annual review, if your new repayment amount is higher than your current repayment, we’ll update your repayment amount. This will ensure that the loan is paid out within the contracted loan term.

Instructions for mobile devices

  1. Log into the NAB app.

  2. Select Transfer & Pay.

  3. Choose the NAB account  you want to transfer from and select your NAB Personal Loan as the account you want to transfer to.

  4. Enter your repayment amount.

  5. Select Pay when and pick a start date.

  6. Select the Recurring tab to choose the repayment frequency and an end date. Tap Apply.

  7. Tap Next to review your payment details and tap Pay now.

Instructions for web browsers

  1. Log into NAB Internet Banking with your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID and password.

  2. Select the Transfer & Pay menu and choose the ‘Transfer’ option.

  3. Choose the NAB account  you want to transfer from and select your NAB Personal Loan as the account you want to transfer to.

  4. Enter your repayment amount .

  5. Select the Recurring tab under ‘When’ to pick your repayment frequency,  start date and end date.

  6. Select Next to review your payment details and select Confirm.

Set up repayments from a non-NAB account

You can instruct us to debit your non-NAB account to repay a new or existing personal loan by completing and submitting our direct debit request form (PDF, 541KB), opens in new window.
