About us

Retail Products, Services & Operations (RPS&O) is responsible for the end-to-end management (including development, marketing, fulfilment and servicing) of NAB's consumer banking products including mortgages, personal loans, credit cards and deposit and transaction accounts.

The area also looks after several banking channels including ATM, internet banking, telephone banking and the bank's main call centres (Direct Financial Services).  Other areas that are vital to supporting NAB and it's customers within RPS&O include operational areas such as Business Systems & Operational Support, Lending Services, Collections, Customer Service & Delivery and customer and employee feedback.

Number of graduates we will recruit for 2006

The number of graduates our Retail Products Services & Operations recruits can vary from year to year in accordance with business demand.  We are seeking 10 graduates for our 2007 intake.

Who we look for

We are looking for graduates who want to utilise and build upon their existing skills and experience by commencing a career in financial services.

Because of the breadth and depth of the RPS&O business, the types of skills we seek can be quite diverse.  However, most importantly, we are looking for individuals who are smart, conscientious, confident, honest, passionate and driven to learn and succeed.  People with the ability to analyse complex problems and develop creative solutions, who are strong and confident communicators and influencers, and have strong initiative and quality focus, are always in high demand.

Disciplines we recruit from

We typically recruit graduates from the following disciplines:

  • Business
  • Economics
  • Commerce
  • Statistics
  • Marketing
  • Engineering

Why you should choose us

RPS&O can be likened to an engine room.  We drive NAB's performance by creating products and services that help our customers and shareholders achieve their aspirations.  Learning and working in RPS&O provides our graduates with an outstanding opportunity to gain exposure and skills in the core fundamental of retail banking products and associated fulfilment and servicing of all retail banking offerings.  From this vantage our Graduates are equipped to make informed choices about the type of work that they find most interesting, and in which they are most skilled.

The cluster of businesses that form RPS&O take an end-to-end view of product management and support our Distribution areas by ensuring the development of products to meet the needs of our customers.  With over 3000 employees within the business, RPS&O provides role opportunities across a broad range of skill sets and specialisations.  Example roles include, strategy, strategic/operational leadership, business development, product development & marketing, technology, fraud, customer service & delivery, project management, finance and risk.

Opportunities may be available for our graduates to progress their careers in other parts of NAB.  Perhaps by moving into Retail or Business Banking, or one of the support areas like Finance or Technology.

What you can expect

The first year of our program is designed to give our graduates a broad understanding of the organisation and industry, and provide them with an opportunity to learn and discover their own talents and abilities.

Graduates move around businesses within RPS&O on a 12 week (approximate) rotation.  In each business unit, the Graduate is allocated to a People Leader, and one or more small projects.  Whilst we are keen to get our Graduates out and working ASAP, we focus equally on ensuring broad exposure to our ornaisational leaders and different aspects of the business.  For this first year, there will be as much emphasis on your learning and development, as there will be on your performance and delivery.

Where our graduate roles are located

Graduate roles are available in Melbourne, at various locations throughout the Melbourne CBD.

What happens after our graduate program

Based on the Graduate's background, skills and their own preferences, opportunities may exist for placement in any of the RPS&O business units.  For example, after completion of the Graduate Program, our 2005 graduates have undertaken Product Analyst or Strategy positions, and are now working on major organisational projects.
