National accepts donations to Red Cross SA bushfire fund

Donations to the Red Cross South Australian West Coast Bushfire Appeal can be made at any National Australia Bank.

The National today announced it had set up an account for the Red Cross to help members of the public make their donations easily and conveniently.  No fees will be charged on any donations received.

Donations can also be made by visiting the Australian Red Cross website or calling the Australian Red Cross West Coast Bushfire appeal on 1800 246 850.

Earlier this week, the National announced it would make available a package of special relief measures for customers facing financial hardship as a direct result of the fires.

The National’s General Manager South Australia Richard Hockney said the thoughts of everyone at the National are with the victims and their families.

“We want to do what we can to help customers get back on their feet wherever possible. Our staff at Port Lincoln are already working hard with affected customers, discussing their circumstances and options for help.”

Assistance measures may include:

  • Deferring home loan repayments for an agreed period,
  • Waiving applicable fees and charges for early withdrawal of term deposits,
  • Waiving home loan and personal loan application fees,
  • Providing existing customers access to low ‘honeymoon’ home loan rates,
  • Waiving establishment fees to restructure business loans,
  • Credit card relief where appropriate, and
  • Restructuring existing banking facilities where possible.

National customers directly affected by the fires should contact National staff to discuss what assistance can be made available.
