NAB expressed its artistic side recently, as Co-Principal Sponsor of Australia's largest annual public exhibition of contemporary sculpture, Sculpture by the Sea, which opened in Bondi recently.
Running from Thursday 2 November to Sunday 19 November, this unique event is staged every year along Sydney's spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk and features exhibits from over 100 artists from Australia and overseas.
NAB is proud to support a new wave of Australian and International art in the 10th anniversary year of the event. This year an estimated 400,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition.
"NAB is delighted to sponsor the exhibition and play our role in helping these talented artists realise their dreams, by providing a forum that enables them to showcase their creative vision to the broader community," said George Frazis, Executive General Manager, Business & Private Banking, Australia.
"We are also proud to be able to provide important recognition and encouragement to some of the exhibition's most accomplished artists, through the NAB Distinguished Invited Sculptors, Sculpture by the Sea Prize and the NAB Kids' Choice Prize.
"Our support of the exhibition is part of our commitment to the arts, particularly initiatives which help make the arts more accessible to the broader community," he added.
Through NAB's support of the Distinguished Invited Sculptors program, a selection of highly regarded sculptors will participate in the exhibition, including one of the most important sculptors in the world Professor Phillip King CBE (England), as well as eminent Australian artists Ken Unsworth AM and Dr Guy Warren OAM.
Young art critics will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favourite work this year with the NAB Kids' Choice Prize, which will award $1000 to the most popular artist. Children who vote for the Prize will go in the draw to win a $100 NAB Smart Junior Saver voucher.
NAB will also support the event's sister exhibition in Cottlesloe from 8 - 18 March 2007.
