NAB announces assistance package for bushfire relief

NAB Chief Executive Officer Australia, Mr Ahmed Fahour, today announced relief measures for customers who have been affected by bushfires across Victoria and Tasmania.

The measures will be available to all customers impacted by bushfire throughout the Australian summer of 2006-07 and include:

  • a $10,000 grant to mortgage, business or agribusiness loan customers whose home or farm buildings have been completely destroyed by bushfire;
  • a $5,000 grant to mortgage, business or agribusiness loan customers whose home or farm buildings have been partially destroyed by bushfire.
    For customers whose home or business property has been destroyed by bushfire, and are looking to rebuild, NAB will waive the establishment costs on a new loan.

Mr Fahour said the bank is ready to provide practical assistance to those directly affected by bushfire to help them get back on their feet.

"We have customers who will be impacted by these devastating fires across Victoria and Tasmania and we want them to know that we will support them wherever possible in their hour of need," he said.

"I would urge customers to contact NAB as soon as practical, so that we can assess their situation and take appropriate steps to provide relief.

"I am also encouraging NAB employees to use their paid volunteer leave entitlement to assist in any local bushfire protection or recovery efforts."

Customers who wish to discuss the relief measures can contact 13 22 65 or visit their local branch.
