NAB extends insurance help to bushfire victims

National Australia Bank today announced an offer of insurance relief as an extension of its assistance package to victims of bushfire in Victoria and Tasmania over the 2006-07 summer.

The additional assistance comprises:

* a waiver of excess for all NAB insurance customers affected
* one year's free Home & Contents Insurance for customers who are eligible for the NAB Relief Package (up to a maximum of $750).

NAB Chief Executive Officer Australia, Mr Ahmed Fahour, said: "We want to help our customers get back on their feet and the support we are offering is practical and tangible."

On 12 December NAB announced it would provide customers impacted by bushfire in Victoria and Tasmania throughout the Australian summer of 2006-07:

* a $10,000 grant to mortgage, business or agribusiness loan customers whose home or farm building has been completely destroyed by bushfire;
* a $5,000 grant to mortgage, business or agribusiness loan customers whose home or farm building has been partially destroyed by bushfire.

For customers whose home or business property has been destroyed by bushfire, and are looking to rebuild, NAB will waive the establishment costs on a new loan.

"NAB is also encouraging employees to use their paid volunteer leave entitlement to assist in any local bushfire recovery efforts," Mr Fahour said.

"I am enormously proud of the commitment NAB people show to their communities and I know many want to be involved in this way."

Customers who wish to discuss the relief measures are urged to contact NAB on 13 22 65 or visit their local branch as soon as practical.  For insurance matters customers are asked to call the NAB Claims line on 1300 555 013.
