NAB supports Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation with $1 million

National Australia Bank will provide the Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation with $1 million over 10 years to support research and raise awareness of food allergies and anaphylaxis.

NAB CEO Australia, Ahmed Fahour, said he hoped the commitment would help carry on the good work started by John Ilhan last year.

"John gave to many causes, some of which we knew about and some we didn't, but of all his causes none was more important than the Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation," he said.

"Food allergies affect at least one in twenty children with one in ten possibly suffering a life threatening anaphylactic reaction.

"By supporting research and raising awareness the Foundation has been able to help thousands of Australian's. I hope NAB's support will allow that work to continue long term."

Patricia Ilhan said NAB would become the Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation's, Principal Partner.

"The bank's generous donation over ten years will make a huge difference to the lives of food allergy sufferers by allowing the Foundation to accelerate its research and education programs to tackle the life threatening issue of anaphylaxis," she said.

"The Foundation knows the problem of food allergies is growing in the community and requires a long term preventative strategy to effectively deal with the issue."

"The partnership with NAB now allows the Foundation to plan ahead and build on its credentials of supporting research and education in this sector.''

Mr Fahour said that becoming Principal Partner would mean a lot more to NAB than just a monetary donation.

"As John would have reminded us, we need to turn our hearts to this cause," he said.

"As Principal Partner, NAB will bring its resources and most importantly its 24,000 people, with their combined energies and skills, together in support of the Foundation.

"Together with the Foundation and its other sponsors, researchers, doctors, hospitals and schools we hope to help thousands of young Australians."
