NAB and the Australian Ballet are getting set to inspire, educate and enthuse young dance students in regional areas of Australia as NAB Dance the Dream embarks on a five month journey beginning in Maroochydore on Friday, 2 May, 2008.
The Anne Fraser School of Dance will be the first school in 2008 to experience Dance the Dream as elite Australian Ballet Artists, Lisa Bolte and Tim Harbour share valuable techniques and answer questions from students and parents alike. Designed to build the confidence of young Australians to help them achieve their dreams, NAB and the Australian Ballet are working towards making the ballet more accessible to the wider community.
Principal Artist Lisa Bolte, originally from Wynnum, will conduct Dance the Dream as it runs in Maroochydore, Brisbane, Wynnum and Gold Coast in Queensland from 2 - 6 May. Lisa participated in the Dance the Dream pilot program in Regional Victoria in May, 2007.
"Having grown up in regional Queensland and then moving to Melbourne to further my Ballet Studies, I'm really excited to be able to give the children of these areas an experience I could only wish I had as a young dancer. It's great to be able to give something back to the communities that offered so much to me," said Lisa.
After great success piloting the program in regional Victoria in 2007 and as NAB commemorates 150 years in 2008, Dance the Dream will travel to 23 regional dance schools and areas of Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.
