NAB’s award-winning Microenterprise Loans program provides unsecured business loans of between $500 and $20,000 for people on low incomes, with few or no avenues to access affordable business credit.
Sally Murfet is currently the owner and operator of Rural Connections, a rural services company in Tasmania. Throughout her life, Sally had always felt the urge to be her own boss and work with her passion - the rural community.
“Although I had already established my real estate career, I wanted to follow my dreams, and became a member of the Tasmanian Women in Agriculture club,” explained Sally.
“The wonderful people there helped me along my way, sponsoring me to attend Marcus Oldham College in 2005.”
In 2006, via the Enterprise Network of Young Australians (ENYA), Sally took the plunge and applied for the NAB Microenterprise Loan. The loan was used to grow Rural Connections, Sally's rural event management, marketing and promotions business servicing the agricultural industry.
“The Microenterprise Loan gave me the encouragement I needed to gain the confidence to take that first step. I’ve learnt invaluable lessons in how to start and run a business and hope to use this newfound knowledge to expand and ensure the success of my operation”, Sally added.
