NAB donates up to $600,000 to support victims of Queensland and New South Wales floods

30 January 2013

NAB today announced donations of up to $600,000 to help customers affected by the Queensland and NSW floods as they recover from ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald.

NAB General Manager of Corporate Responsibility Paula Benson said the money would be distributed across a number of funds and community groups to ensure it went to the right places.

“NAB understands that in these circumstances, our staff and customers need our help as they recover from the impacts of such devastating conditions,” she said.

“That’s why we’re pleased to announce these donations, which will help ensure people in both flood-affected states will receive some much needed assistance.”

NAB is donating $100,000 to the Queensland Floods Appeal 2013 and $100,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund to help victims in NSW and ACT.

NAB will also match every dollar its staff, customers and the community donates to disaster appeals through NAB branches or its website up to the value of $200,000.

In addition NAB will also donate $200,000 to support local communities through a range of not-for-profit organisations in affected areas.

“We know this is a difficult time for many people who are now facing the challenging task of recovering and rebuilding,” Ms Benson said.

“NAB wants to make sure all employees and customers who need assistance or advice can contact us so we can discuss their circumstances and work out the best way to help.”

Yesterday, NAB made disaster relief measures available for flood-affected customers in QLD and NSW. It offered similar measures to several states earlier this month.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the natural disaster recovery effort can make a donation at NAB branches across Australia, or through internet banking online.
