NAB takes donations for Red Cross to help with relief and recovery across Australia's bushfire affected communities

22 January 2013

NAB today announced its branches would take donations for Red Cross's Disaster Relief and Recovery to help people in bushfire affected areas across Australia.

Earlier this month NAB donated $100,000 to the Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfires 2013 Appeal and is now taking donations on behalf of communities right across Australia.

NAB customers and staff have already contributed more than $25,000 to the Tasmanian Appeal since 10 January.

The 2012-13 summer has seen a significant number of dangerous bushfires across several states and territories with many of them still burning.

NAB's Executive General Manager Retail, Vicki Carter said that NAB believed it was important to provide support to local communities who have been affected and assist with the recovery effort.

"Our thoughts are with the people and communities that have had to deal with these horrendous conditions, particularly those who are still under threat," she said.

"NAB has staff and customers in many of the fire affected communities and we are taking donations for the Red Cross to assist with the recovery effort."

People in Tasmania have been particularly hard hit this summer with New South Wales, Victoria, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory also suffering multiple blazes.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the recovery effort can make a donation to Red Cross's Disaster Relief and Recovery at NAB branches across Australia, or through internet banking at www.nab.com.au

For more information and assistance, customers can visit their local NAB branch, contact their banker directly or call NAB Care on 1800 701 599.
