Our recruitment process

Here’s what to expect when you apply for a role at NAB.

Step 1 - The application

Once you’ve identified the role that’s the best fit for you, you can apply and create your online application. We’ll ask you to upload your resume and answer any role-specific questions. Make sure your contact details are correct and up-to-date so we can communicate with you throughout the process.

Step 2 - The phone interview

If your application meets the criteria for the position, we may contact you for an initial conversation or telephone interview. In this stage we want to find out a little more about you, your experience and motivation for the position. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about NAB and why we think it’s a great place to work.

Step 3 - The formal interview

For this stage you might be invited for a face-to-face interview, video interview or assessment centre. This is your chance to speak with the hiring manager and find out more about the role and team. We often use a behavioural event interviewing framework.

Step 4 - The assessment

We may conduct tests online or face-to-face, which can include cognitive, psychometric and competency testing. These assessments allow us to understand more about you.

Step 5 - Work references and background checks

Once you’ve completed the interview stage we may check your work references with your most recent employers. We’ll also conduct a background check, which is an essential part of our recruitment process. You'll be asked to upload identification documents, complete an employment verification and do a police check. Depending on the role you’re applying for, you may also need to submit a credit or bankruptcy check. This step is often completed by a third party on behalf of NAB.

Step 6 - Your offer

We have a highly-efficient and innovative onboarding process that notifies you by email when your letter of offer is ready to be reviewed via your personal and confidential candidate portal. All supporting documentation is included for your reference.

Important tip: Please keep your contact details up to date in our recruitment system. We may have similar positions come up in the future that we can share with you. We’re always looking for great talent to join our organisation.

Accessible to all

We’re committed to helping our applicants pursue roles on a level playing field by removing barriers people with a disability, mental illness or medical condition may face.
