When it comes to making your application and our selection process we want you to be at your best and we want to get to know the real you. The process can be daunting, but we've put together some information so that you know what to expect from us and what we'll expect from you.

Our Hiring Process

For most people, this is the application and hiring process that you'll experience when you apply to us. Generally, the number of stages will be dependent upon the nature of the position. However, below are some key stages. During the process we'll also keep you up to date on how your application is progressing.

Application stages
Description
The Application

We have particular criteria by which we assess your applications. There will be additional role-specific questions, which you'll need to answer so we can consider your application.

The Phone Interview

If your application meets the criteria for the position, a NAB Recruitment Consultant may contact you for an initial telephone interview.

The Formal Interview

This is your chance to speak with the Recruitment Consultant and Hiring Manager.

We believe that past behaviour is an excellent predictor of future performance, so we use Behavioural Event Interviewing (BEI). During the interview, you will be asked to discuss your experiences so we can work out your competencies.

You should talk about the circumstances around your experiences. Talk about how you managed the event or situation and the outcome of your actions. Your might draw on experiences from university or community events, as well as give work examples.

The interview will give you the opportunity to share information with your potential manager. The interview also gives you with the chance to gather extra information to help you decide whether or not the position is right for you.

The Assessment

The testing methods we use vary, and depend upon position requirements. Tests may be conducted online or face-to-face and include any or all of the following:

  • Cognitive testing
  • Psychometric testing
  • Competency testing
Work Reference Checks

We'll check up on your work references with your most recent employers.

Probity checking

A probity check is a must. We'll need you to tell us a little more about yourself and your history. You will also need to tell us about any criminal history and bankruptcy details. Probity checking helps us ensure that you have the right qualifications for the role, and identifies any possible issues that may prevent you from performing that role.
