About Us
Finance Australia provides the support for the ongoing financial well-being of NAB in the Australian region. We have a team of over 800 finance professionals based in a number of locations across Australia and in Asia.
So what does Finance Australia actually do?
The type of work the people in Finance Australia do is completely varied and covers a broad range of disciplines. From fundamental accounting to benefits realisation, there are so many different facets. Some examples include:
- Management and financial reporting and analysis
- Providing strategic financial advice to our internal customers
- Determining what we buy, from whom we buy it and how we manage our supplier relationships
- Overseeing the financial success of projects that have been implemented
- Business planning and forecasting
- Making sure we pay the right amount of tax
And that’s not even scratching the surface!
How many Graduates do we recruit?
We will be recruiting approximately 10-12 graduates to commence with NAB in January 2007.
Who we look for
We are looking for graduates who have a passion for working with numbers, are eager to learn, have a proven track record of achievement and focus on delivering quality outcomes. Challenging assumptions, looking for ways to make improvements whilst standing strong as a team player are also highly regarded. Other qualities we look for include:
- Great communication, interpersonal, written and presentation skills
- Team-oriented individuals who have the ability to learn quickly
- Ability to effectively prioritise and meet deadlines
- Initiative, drive to achieve, flexibility and a positive 'can do' attitude
- Interest in completing further studies to develop skills
Disciplines we recruit from
Finance Australia recruit graduates who are completing or have recently completed their studies with a Commerce, Business, Economics or Finance degree and have completed majors such as Accounting, Finance, Economics and the like.

What you can expect
You can expect a two year structured program providing you with four, six-month rotations through Finance teams, with opportunities for interstate rotations. The type of exposure you will obtain will include management and financial reporting, tax and business support at a minimum.
Learning and development is an important aspect of the Finance Australia Graduate Program and aims to develop and skill our graduates to become leaders of the future. This includes a variety of face to face courses as well as the possibility of workshops, external seminars and conferences. Our learning and development is reviewed annually to ensure we are keeping up to date with what is relevant in the market.
Where are Graduate roles located?
Finance Australia roles will be located in Sydney and Melbourne.
What happens after the Graduate Program?
After completion of the program, graduates can usually progress into a range of different roles within Finance Australia and the broader group. Typical roles graduates have been successful in securing have included management reporting, planning and forecasting, partnering with the business to provide analysis and advice on financial outcomes as well as more specialised activities in the area of tax.
