Using the search field

The search field appears on nearly every page of the nab.com.au website. The search will cover everything within the nab.com.au domain. To search, simply enter a word or phrase to summarise what you are looking for. Hit the Enter key or click the search icon (magnifying glass) to submit your search query.

Why are their words appearing below as I type my search query?

As you begin typing you will notice search suggestions appearing which are based on common terms and phrases searched for on nab.ocm.au. If these terms are suitable you can select them to form your query too.

Why should I select the suggested search terms?

We have optimised our results to cater for our most common user queries. By using these suggestions you will have a greater chance of finding the information you need quickly, plus it may save you some time typing your query or thinking of the best keyword or phrase to use

How do I access the search results presented?

Simply click on the result title in the large red text. You can also usually select the page from the 'breadcrumb' trail appearing beneath the search result. This gives you context of where the page is located within the nab.com.au site and you can navigate to these other site areas if you feel this is better suited to your particular search.

What if can't I find any information immediately in the search results listed?

There are a few options:

  • You can retry your search query with some more precise information
  • Use a suggested search query if you feel they are relevant
  • Use the refine results options on the left of the screen to narrow the search to specific site areas.
  • View more results relating to your query. You can access subsequent pages of results by using the page numbers at the bottom of the results page

How do I get to the next page of search results?

The numbers at the bottom of the search results listing indicate the pages of results returned for your query. For the next page of results simply select the number '2' box and select number '3' for the third page of results and so on. Be aware the search results will generally have less relevant results the further you go down the list as you would expect.

What does 'Refine results' mean?

Refine results means you can restrict your search within specific site areas of the website. This helps you filter out information from areas of the site you deem irrelevant. For instance if you are looking at credit cards but for use by a business, you might wish to only view results from the 'Business' site area. To do this you would simply select the Business category shown. You will need to perform a search first before refining results on that search query.

The numbers appearing next to each Refine result category indicate the number of search results available for each category.

What does 'Did you mean' refer to?

This is a suggestion based on what the search function interprets what you might be searching for. This will only appear occasionally if the search engine wishes to confirm your search query with you or has a suggested query close to what you have entered. By selecting the suggested term shown after the 'Did you mean...' message you will perform a search using that term.

What are the grey areas appearing above the search results?

The grey shaded areas appearing occasionally above the search results are featured messages related to your search query which aim to present information you can use on the spot to solve your query immediately without needing to select one of the regular search results.
