Diversity & Flexibility

At NAB we believe in creating and supporting a workforce of men and women from different cultures, generations, backgrounds and experiences. Some of the ways we help people and communities achieve their dreams are outlined below.

 Women at NAB

The sky's the limit

We aim to ensure that nothing stops women from reaching the top. We actively encourage women to reach their full potential and in 2009, for the third year in a row, we were delighted to be recognised as an Employer of Choice for Women by The Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA).

We continue to strengthen our commitment to women with great initiatives including networking and support groups, career development programs and mentoring. We also provide support and tools to help women balance career and family responsibilities, such as parental leave, flexible working practices and childcare.

It's not just in the workplace that NAB is removing the glass ceiling, we're also dedicated to supporting women in the communities in which we operate - we're the Founding Partner of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) and we partner with Business Chicks to recognise and advocate the contribution of female employees and business customers.

Since 2001, we've raised more than $2.5 million for the OCRF through our support of the Silver Ribbon Campaign and through Business Chicks we've created a community in which NAB employees and customers alike learn, connect and give back - with part of the proceeds from each event going to the Kids' Help Line.

To find out more about the career options for women at NAB, and our graduates' experiences, listen to our Vodcasts below. If you'd like to learn more about OCRF and Business Chicks, check out these websites:

 People with a disability

NAB considers abilities, not disabilities when we recruit. We're committed to employing and supporting people with a disability and to creating an inclusive environment that supports all our people through our inclusive employment practices and by removing artificial barriers from the workplace.

For instance, we provide reasonable adjustments for people with a disability to ensure that they can perform their role successfully, as well as flexible working practices to provide our people with choices to manage work and personal life.

We have a strong partnership with Disability Works Australia (DWA) to help us attract, select and retain employees with a disability. For more information, or assistance, email graduate_careers@nab.com.au

 Indigenous programs

NAB is proud to partner with Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) to provide career opportunities for people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent.

One of the many ways we create opportunities is through our Indigenous Graduate Strategy - the first of its kind in the finance industry. By providing graduates with the right level of external mentoring and cultural support, we build career opportunities in the finance sector for indigenous people, enabling each individual to achieve their personal aspirations and fulfil their potential.

We encourage indigenous graduates from a wide variety of disciplines to apply for our graduate programs and as part of our Indigenous Graduate Strategy we can offer support throughout our graduate recruitment process. If you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent and would like to find out more about the recruitment process support in place please note this in the relevant section of our graduate online application form or contact us at graduate_careers@nab.com.au.

See NAB's Reconciliation Action Plan for further information on how NAB is supporting Indigenous Australians.
