What are NAB Smart Statements?

NAB Smart Statements is a service that allows you to receive and view your account statements online through NAB Internet Banking. Until you register to receive statements online only and no longer receive paper statements in the mail for eligible accounts, you’ll receive your account statements both online through NAB Internet Banking and in paper by mail.

Will NAB Smart Statements still be classified as a legal document once printed?

Yes, one of the smart things about receiving your statements online is that they’ll continue to be classified as a legal document. This is due to the fact that they’re an exact replica of a paper statement.

What are the eligible accounts available for NAB Smart Statements?

The eligible accounts for NAB Smart Statements are those that will be displayed in the NAB Smart Statements registration screen or those that are in the dropdown list in the 'Statements' screen within NAB Internet Banking. Accounts that aren't eligible for NAB Smart Statements won’t be displayed within the NAB Smart Statements registration screen or the dropdown list in the 'Statements' screen.

NAB Smart Statements are available for the majority of NAB's everyday banking and savings accounts and personal banking products including credit cards, personal loans, mortgages and some investment loans as well as a majority of NAB's business transaction and savings accounts and business lending products. These include:

  • Personal and business transaction and savings account statements
  • Personal credit card statements
  • Loyalty credit card statements
  • Personal loan statements
  • Home loan statements
  • HomeSide statements
  • Business lending statements

The exceptions currently include the following:

  • Third party access to accounts
  • Additional NAB ID access to accounts
  • Wealth and MLC products
  • Reward card statements
  • Margin lending facilities
  • Merchant statements
  • Affinity card statements

How will NAB Smart Statements benefit me?

NAB Smart Statements provide a convenient, faster way to check your accounts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also access up to 7 years of account statements free of charge.

How much will it cost?

Another great benefit of NAB Smart Statements is that it’s free of charge. Access current and historical statements for up to 7 years, free of charge - 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

What is the difference between NAB Smart Statements and Transaction History in NAB Internet Banking?

NAB Smart Statements are an exact replica of the current paper statements, are a legal document and have up to seven years of statements available to you. Transaction History is a list of the most recent transactions on your account, up to 560 days.

How often do I receive my NAB Smart Statements?

You’ll continue to receive your statements at the same frequency as your paper statements. You simply receive them electronically rather than in paper if you’ve registered to receive statements online only.

How do I know when my NAB Smart Statements are available to view?

If you’ve registered to receive statements online only, each time your statement becomes available for viewing online we’ll send an email notification to your nominated email address advising you that your NAB Smart Statement is now available and ready to view in NAB Internet Banking. We’ll also send a message to your NAB Internet Banking message list.

Can I access NAB Smart Statements while overseas?

Yes, you can access NAB Smart Statements where NAB Internet Banking access is available.

Will I receive my final statement when closing an account?

Yes, you'll receive a paper statement in the mail on closure of an account. Access to NAB Smart Statements within NAB Internet Banking will be available for the closed account if the account was registered for Smart Statements prior to closing it.

Why can't I access my NAB Gold Card statement?

From June 2008, you’ll be able to access your NAB Gold Credit Card Statements issued since January 2006. Currently NAB Gold Reward Credit Cards aren’t eligible for NAB Smart Statements.

Why do I get a black screen in my browser when trying to open Smart Statements?

This problem may occur if you’re using the Safari browser to access your statements and is a result of the way that Safari treats PDF documents. When you attempt to directly open a PDF in Safari (as opposed to downloading it to your computer), a black screen will be displayed while the PDF loads. This screen could be displayed for up to two minutes while the document loads. To avoid this problem, it’s recommended that Safari users download Smart Statements to their computers before opening or disable the Safari Acrobat plugin.
