With a decade of volunteering experience, NAB understands what it takes to build a program that works for both employees, who take time from their normal work day to work with community groups, and the groups they help. These insights and more will be shared at Volunteering Australia’s national conference themed Catch the New Waves on 3-5 September 2008 in the Gold Coast.
As a proud Gold Sponsor of the conference, NAB encourages community organisations, volunteer managers, policy makers, government officials, corporations, researchers, academics and volunteers to come together to discuss, debate and exchange ideas and information on the issues that impact volunteering in Australia.
Richard Peters, NAB's Head of Community Finance and Development, will join corporate volunteering experts in a panel discussion to explore corporate community investment and volunteering.
"NAB was one of the first Australian corporations to offer a volunteer program for its employees and we have seen, over time, the very real benefits that volunteer contributions can make," Richard explained.
"We've certainly learned alot along the way and we are very pleased to sponsor and participate in this special event and share our perspective.
"In the spirit of information sharing, we'll also be launching our first volunteering report that outlines the evolution of our corporate volunteering program and I hope other companies, individuals and community groups will find these insights relevant and an inspiration for their own volunteering contributions," added Richard.
The report titled 10 Years of corporate volunteering – people making a difference shares experiences; reflects on the lessons learned; and looks forward to what can be achieved in the future with volunteering. You can access the report via NAB's website from Tuesday 3 September.
