Education - Schools First

The Schools First program goes to the core of NAB’s philosophy to foster meaningful partnerships in the community it operates in.

It aims to deliver better learning outcomes for children, more resources for schools and stronger communities.  It is the first initiative to partner a major Australian business with education authorities and community organisations at a national level.

“It’s a simple premise – good things happen when schools, families and communities work together to support learning”, explained Ahmed Fahour, NAB Executive Director and CEO Australia.

The program establishes a framework for schools and communities to work together on specific issues that address student learning needs. It provides practical guidance to develop targeted solutions, including implementation and guidance at the local level.

Schools First will offer regional, state and national awards with a total award pool of $5 million annually for the programs that achieve significant improvement in student learning, making it the largest corporate-sponsored education initiative in Australia.

NAB has partnered with three not-for-profit organisations to bring this program to life:  Australia Cares, the Foundation for Young Australians, and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
