Ranked Number One in Australia in Shot Put and Discus and ranked Number One in the Commonwealth in Discus and Number Three in Shot Put, Scott Martin is one of Australia's most talented young throwers.  This reputation was cemented at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games where he won Gold in the Discus and Bronze in the Shot Put.

As the star of NAB's brand campaign, in which he features participating in a ballet class to perfect his technique, Scott became the unofficial face of the Games, enjoying a new celebrity status as 'the dancing man of Discus'.
Following the Games, Scott gained the 4th place in Shot Put an the 5th Place in Discus at the 10th IAAF World Cup in Athens, as well as 5th place in the Shot Put at the 4th IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart.

During his junior years, Scott gained a reputation as one of the best junior combination Shot Put and Discus throwers in Australian history. Scott made his mark on the international scene finishing 6th at the 1999 World Youth Championships in Poland.  He then went on to gain selection in the Australian team heading to the IAAF World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile.

Over the 2000/01 summer season, Scott won the U20 Shot and Discus titles and broke the same Australian records. Although still at school, he was selected in the team for the East Asian Games, where he finished 3rd in the Shot Put.

In 2002, Scott hit tremendous Discus form, four times hitting 60m with a best of 62.19m, moving him to 5th on the Australian All -Time list. Over the 2004 summer, his Shot also started to make significant progress and he closed the season with a National Silver medal and the Number 4 position in Australian history with his best putt of 19.53m. A great start to the 2004/05 domestic season saw him win the Discus at the Australian Championships, with a personal best of 63.78m, moving him to Number 4 in the Australian All -Time list.

After winning the Commonwealth Games discus, Scott travelled to compete against the world Best on the World Athletic Tour in Europe. During the Tour, Scott had had 5 wins and several placings in high level competitions.  He defeated 17 of the top 20 shot putters in the world and finished ranked 7th on the World Tour rankings for Shot put and finished 9th on the World Tour rankings in the Discus.  Scott also qualified for the World Athletics Final in Stuttgart and competed against the top 8 throwers in the world where he finished 5th with a personal best throw of 20.38m. One week later, Scott competed in the Athletics World cup where he finished 4th in the shot put with 20.21m and 5th in the discus with 60.93m. He is looking forward to competing on the tour again in 2007 in the lead up to the World Championships.
