NAB AFL Auskick is the AFL's key introductory program for primary school children and their families, providing a fun and safe community activity for boys and girls.
The program is managed by the community for the community, thanks to the thousands of parents and volunteers who get involved.
Children (aged five to twelve) register and participate in a weekly coaching program of warm-ups, skill activities and games, and a match program based on appropriate modified rules designed to suit varying development levels and maximise skill-based learning. It's also a great way for the family to spend time together.
There are over 2,500 NAB AFL Auskick centres in Australia. In 2008, 160,000 children registered along with 20,000 parents who were involved on a volunteer basis. The volunteers and local centres are supported by AFL Regional Development Managers (RDM) located in each of the AFL's 96 regions.
Since our involvement in the program, NAB has provided over $1 million of centre resources to local communities. These include Handball targets, Centre Resource Kits - ball carry bag, 10 markers and 2 whistles, Tackle bags, Portable goal post sets, Bibs (for children and parent helpers) and Encouragement certificates.
