Families of blast victims helped
When an explosion at an explosives factory in Gladstone, South Australia, killed three people earlier this year the close knit community rallied round to support the families of the victims, including employees at NAB's nearby Jamestown and Port Pirie Branches.
The branches donated $500 from NAB's Local Community Donation Program to the Gladstone SA Factory Blast Appeal, set up by the Australian Red Cross to help people affected by the tragedy.
"It really was a local tragedy that affected us all. I knew one of them myself, he was a good customer and so are his parents," said Relieving Branch Manager for Rural South Australia, Donna Kelly.
The Gladstone SA Factory Blast Appeal has raised almost $200,000. SafeWork SA is investigating the cause of the explosion.
Through NAB's Local Community Donations Program our employees have made donations totalling more than $850,000 to community groups across Australia in the last year.
