The Mudgee branch in New South Wales is celebrating 140 years in the community this year.
Its history began in 1866 when the Commercial Banking Company opened its doors in Mudgee. In 1983 it merged with the National, which later became National Australia Bank.

Locals helped NAB celebrate at a morning tea held recently at the branch. "Over the years we have worked closely with the Mudgee community to build a vibrant and thriving town," said Craig Thompson, NAB Regional Executive.
"The local community joined with us to celebrate the 140 years we've been here, and the many more years to come," he said.

Proceedings kicked off with a morning tea and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by members of the Hodges family, who have owned a butcher's shop in Mudgee for 100 years, and banked with NAB for generations.

At the morning tea NAB presented a $2,000 cheque to the Mudgee Hospital and Mudgee Rotary Club in support of the Mudgee Oncology Nurse Scholarship.

"It was a great day for everyone. So many people dropped in to say hello, have a piece of birthday cake and a cup of tea or coffee, or pick up a balloon for the kids," said Branch Manager, Jan Rayner.

"It really is a great achievement to be able to say NAB has been part of the rich history of the Mudgee district for the past 140 years," she said.
