NAB staff decide on donations

NAB employees in branches across Australia will donate up to half a million dollars to local charities and community organisations this year.

Since 2002, NAB has funded a local community donations program letting its people decide where the money will make the most difference in the places where they live and work.

"Donations are made to a diverse range of organisations," said Esther Makris, NAB's Community Manager.

"Our people have supported community fetes, donated goods for charity auctions and raffles, sponsored junior sports clubs, helped local hospitals and schools to purchase equipment. The list is endless."

"Our staff decide where the money goes and they select organisations that make a significant contribution to their local communities," she added.

In addition to giving local community donations, NAB staff volunteer with charities and community organisations. Each employee receives two paid volunteer leave days a year and in 2006, some 5,500 days of volunteering were taken.
