Skill-based Volunteering
With a strong culture of community support and volunteering, it is not surprising that NAB employees have begun to think about how they can make a greater volunteering contribution through the transfer of their professional skills.
All NAB employees have a minimum of 16 hours of volunteer leave each year. In addition to general volunteering opportunities, NAB is seeking opportunities which result in a transfer of our peoples' skills and knowledge to community organisations.
A NAB volunteer offers more than just their skills. Community groups often talk about how helpful it is to have a new perspective on doing things and the incidental transfer of knowledge that takes place when a volunteer observes the operation of the organisation 'up close'.
To help community organisations identify and develop skill based volunteering positions, NAB and Volunteering Australia have developed a toolkit.
It takes time for community groups to develop these more complex short term projects and a good understanding of the range of skills which are available to them. Your perception of the types of skills which are possessed by NAB employees may not accurately reflect the reality.
