Education - NAB Schools First

NAB Schools First

Research shows that the closer schools and their local communities are, the better the educational outcomes for students, who are then more able to realise their potential.

Local communities and schools often face challenges in making this happen. These include needing to help young people develop their teamwork, business or technical skills, community conscience or empathy for others, experience new options, learn from local role models or help disengaged students work out their preferred direction in life.

NAB Schools First is NAB's flagship education program. It is a national awards program that rewards outstanding school-community partnerships and provides opportunities to schools in metropolitan, regional and remote areas across the public, catholic and independent sectors

The program encourages Australian schools to build partnerships with local businesses and community organisations to improve their students' education beyond the classroom.

NAB Schools First has awarded $15 million to 310 outstanding school-community partnerships over the past three years in recognition of the positive contribution these partnerships are making to the lives of young Australians. In addition, NAB has over 2,100 employees participating in the program, some of whom work alongside their local school-community partnerships to bring the partnership to life.

NAB can play its part by providing tangible assistance through programs such as NAB Schools First which bring students, parents, teachers and local businesses and community organisations together in a way that empowers all concerned.
