2002 Lions Youth of the Year Quest results

The national final of the 2002 Lions Youth of the Year Quest was held in Geelong, concluding on 7 May 2002.

The overall winner of the Youth of the Year Quest was Jessica Leach from Ouyen Secondary College in north west Victoria, representing the Lions Club of Ouyen.

The public speaking winner was Adam Marshall from the Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School in Tamworth, NSW, representing the Lions Club of Curlewis.

Other national finalists were:

WA - Kate Layman, Perth College, representing the Lions Club of Kardinya

SA/NT - Hugh Boylan, St Ignatius College, representing the Lions Club of Athelstone

TAS - Madeline Cooper, Scotch Oakburn College, representing the Lions Club of Launceston Windmill Hill

QLD/Northern districts - Brydie Summerfield, Byron Bay High School, representing the Lions Club of Byron Bay

Overall 2,500 students participated in the 2002 Quest. Our congratulations are extended to all these young people as well as to the national finalists and winners and to Lions Australia.

The National, through our CommunityLink program, has been the sole sponsor of the Quest since 1998.

We are pleased that hundreds of our managers helped to make this year's Quest a great success by volunteering to assist as judges at all levels of the competition.
