The National Australia Bank today announced the donation of its Mingenew premises for use as a Rural Transaction Centre. Mingenew is located north of Perth in Western Australia. The Rural Transaction Centre will house the National Australia Bank's existing agency, together with other community services that the local community requires. "The National has been working with the Federal Government on an ongoing basis to assist the local community in Mingenew," said Mr Peter Flavel, the National's General Manager of Personal Financial Services. "The Mingenew Service Centre will include the National Australia Bank's existing agency servicing the transactional banking needs of the local community. The agency's operating hours will not change. "In addition, the Service Centre will include an upgraded Mingenew Australia Post outlet, an existing Telecentre that will be relocated to the new premises, and the installation of satellite communications and associated equipment. "The National hopes that the Mingenew Service Centre will become a hub for community activity. The National would like to thank the Federal Government for working with us to ensure the Mingenew community receives the services that it requires," added Mr Flavel. This is the first time the National has donated its premises to the community as part of the Federal Government's Rural Transaction Centre program. The National is actively working to provide surplus buildings in other rural locations The National has a strong network of over 1100 retail outlets, including 800 branches and agencies. More than half of these are in rural and regional Australia. National personal customers are also able to transact at more than 2,900 Australia Post outlets across Australia, in addition to the network of ATMs, eftpos devices, telephone and Internet banking.
