Meet some of our local agribusiness staff making a difference in our rural communities.

Barry Membrey,
Albury New South Wales

By the time we pull into Albury, the BBQ's well underway with laughter rolling across the paddock. From his role as a local NAB Agribusiness Manager to his involvement in both the Riverina Plains Committee and the Rotary Club of Belvoir-Wodonga, Barry's truly hands-on around his local community. Having seen the effects of drought first-hand, Barry is the driving force behind the local Rotary Club's "A Night at the Movies" trailer, complete with movie projector, BBQ, seats and just about everything else you'll need for a great night off.

Encouraging small communities to organise a movie night in their local area, the trailer enables farmers and their families to enjoy some time together and put their worries behind them. With crowds ranging from as few as 12 to over 650 movie buffs, it's been a hit with farming families on both sides of the border.

Jason Holmes,
Cohuna Victoria

It's fitting that we catch up with Jason Holmes at one of Cohuna's two local footy clubs, with perfect conditions for a quick kick. Not one to shy away from goals, this former local Murray Valley footy legend and current NAB Agribusiness Manager knows the importance of being an active part of his local community. Apart from being a member of the local CFA, Jason recognises the outlet sport provides for people in the area is a vital part of rural community life.

His involvement with the Cohuna Kangas Football Club, amongst other sporting activities around the area, echoes a long underlying passion for getting people together and enjoying themselves. Jason is also president of the local recreation reserve - home to everything from Little Aths to the local Show Society; it's soon to be the location of his next goal, a new sporting complex for the local community.

Rosslyn Johnson & Christine Mulcahy,
Woodenbong New South Wales

As we cross the Queensland and New South Wales Border we drive into Woodenbong, a small town with a population of just 500 people. It's home to Rosslyn and Christine, long-standing NAB employees and even longer standing friends.

Having grown up in the district they're more than familiar with the difficulties that being associated with the land brings, to the extent that the local NAB branch is regularly used to promote local charities and upcoming events for the community, from the Australia Day committee to organising the next town working bee. The ladies even open the branch earlier once a week so folks can get their banking and shopping done before the local bus makes the return trip. Rosslyn and Chris realise the importance of having a town built on friendship and support, having both seen their fair share along the way. After all, it's a natural part of life in rural Australia.
