What do I need to get started?

Using NAB Internet Banking is easy. In fact, you may already have everything you need to start your banking now!

1. You need to be a NAB customer with at least one acceptable transaction account.

Acceptable accounts include smart everyday banking accounts, credit cards, home and personal loans, NAB Business Cheque Account, NAB Business Cash Maximiser and selected others. Please call 1300 651 656 for a complete list of accounts.

And if you’re not a NAB customer , call us on 13 22 65 or come into a branch with 100 points of identification and we’ll talk to you about a NAB product that best suits your needs.

2. You need to have your NAB Identification Number (NAB ID). This can be found on the back of your NAB card or was given to you in branch.

You will also need one of the following:

your mobile phone registered for SMS Security
or
your NAB Telephone Banking password
or
your temporary password (issued at a branch).

If you have these, you’re ready to get started, so go straight to step five.

If you don’t have these details, or you’re not sure, just visit any NAB branch and we’ll give you a hand.

You can call 1300 651 656 to register for SMS Security or request your Telephone Banking password.

If you’re a business customer you’ll need to contact your Banker or visit a NAB branch. You’ll need to complete an application form. You may also need to provide suitable identification such as a driver's licence and utility bill. Once your application is processed you’ll be given a NAB ID and password for your business "on the spot".

If you’d like to use the Pay Anyone function of NAB Internet Banking, or if you want to attach third party accountsto your NAB ID, this can be arranged at the same time when you’re in the branch.

3. Registering for SMS Security means you don’t need a NAB Telephone Banking Password. SMS Security gives you an additional layer of security when making NAB Internet Banking payments. It’s free of charge and can also be used as the authorisation code to register for NAB Internet Banking. Call 1300 651 656 to register for SMS Security or to find out more please visit nab.com.au/sms.
4. You need to have the right equipment. You need to have a suitable computer, operating system and software with access to the Internet.  View the Internet Banking technical requirements.
