NAB launches on Android, upgrades iPhone / iPad apps

23 December 2010

National Australia Bank has launched a new mobile banking application for Google Android devices.

The NAB app for Android follows the launch of NAB iPhone and iPad apps, earlier this year.

The Android app enables users to access NAB Internet Banking, NAB branch and ATM locations and a foreign currency calculator.

Chris Smith, General Manager Digital, Direct Banking says the new app extends NAB’s mobile banking capability, enabling more customers to bank anytime, anywhere, on any device.

"NAB customers use a broad range of smartphones and tablets and we are working to make banking easy, on all of the most popular devices," he said.

The NAB iPhone/iPad app is also being upgraded, to offer additional functionality including the ability to manually update ATM and branch locations and new, interactive calculators that simulate loan and savings scenarios.

Mr Smith expects accelerated growth in mobile banking, as more NAB customers embrace new technologies.

"Mobile is NAB’s fastest growing banking channel, with more customers enjoying its 24/7 convenience and access to their money on-the-move," he said.

NAB has seen 200 per cent growth in mobile banking over the past six months, with 10 per cent of all logins to NAB Internet Banking now done via mobile devices.

NAB Internet Banking has been available through the internet browser on all web-enabled mobile phones since September 2009.

Download the NAB app at Android Market or via the Apple App Store.

Android-powered smartphones now account for 21 per cent of the global market, according to IDC Australia.
