National Australia Bank (NAB) has today announced the appointment of Daryl Johnson as Executive General Manager, nabbusiness, responsible for servicing the small to medium enterprise (SME) segment. Daryl's appointment follows the decision by Geoff Greer to retire from NAB.
Daryl has more than 31 years business and corporate banking experience, both domestic and international, since starting his career with Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. In his time with ANZ Bank, Daryl held a number of senior leadership positions including Managing Director, Business Banking.
Daryl joined NAB in 2009 as General Manager, NAB Corporate, where he was responsible for servicing corporate Australia (turnover $50m-$250m) in both the public and private sector.
"I am delighted to announce Daryl's appointment to this important role," said Joseph Healy, Group Executive, NAB Business Banking.
"Daryl is a highly experienced banker, with a deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of business and corporate banking. I am confident that Daryl's extensive business banking background and strong leadership skills will ensure we continue to build on NAB's number one position in the small and medium business segment."
Geoff Greer retires after 35 years with NAB, where he has held a number of senior leadership roles in the UK and Australia. In his time as EGM, nabbusiness, he oversaw tremendous balance sheet growth and was instrumental to the maintenance of NAB's position as the number one business bank in Australia.
NAB continues to have the leading SME lending market share with over 27%1 and has more than 3000 frontline SME bankers in 225 business banking sites around Australia.
Daryl will transition into the role immediately.
