Name: Brigid O'Meara
Your role: Manager, Mobile Banking
Region: Melbourne, Victoria
What’s your story?
I started at NAB in Perth, Western Australia about seven years ago. NAB was the first bank I’d ever worked for and I went straight into a home lending role, where I was responsible for our customers’ new and existing home loan needs at an important time in their lives. Between being a branch based lender, managing branches and then becoming a mobile lender, I’ve found my passion in this exciting customer journey. After six years in Perth, I made the move to Melbourne in 2017. I’m looking forward to meeting more of our amazing NAB customers whilst progressing professionally. I still haven’t quite realised the enormity of career and education options available at NAB, the equal opportunity for women in our organisation is inspiring.
How have you made a difference?
Meeting so many of the diverse customers we have at NAB is the best part of my job. I love hearing their stories (and not just the financial ones!), and I pride myself on being able to connect with the emotion involved in consumer banking. Whether it be bringing a banking product over to NAB or acquiring a new product with us, there is always a story and reason behind it.
I’m proud of NAB and our technology platforms. We’re providing simpler and faster ways to bank whilst maintaining that personal touch and expert guidance that customers expect from us. This is really special in such a large organisation. The magic comes from being able to use all of the fancy, new technology and still have a meaningful conversation and connection at the same time.
We also have some great community initiatives, my favourite being the NAB AFL Auskick sponsorship. Over the last seven years, I’ve spent many Sunday mornings flipping sausages on a BBQ or handing out balloons and high fives to our Auskickers in local communities. I’m proud of the happiness we bring to these kids and I’m thankful to NAB for providing such support to our future AFL and AFLW stars.
What are you passionate about?
I love getting outside and exploring, both in Australia or beyond. I’m a big AFL fan and have loved being a West Coast Eagles fanatic in Melbourne this season! If I wasn’t working at NAB I’d be involved in music or education – or both. Music is the soundtrack to life and for the most part, it’s a free and simple pleasure that can be enjoyed by all. I’d love to take the gift of music to kids in all corners of our country.
