Nyari joined NAB from the African Australian Inclusion Program and has never looked back.
Name: Joe Webb
Your role: Senior Agribusiness Manager
Region: North Queensland, Queensland
What’s your story?
I am originally from Central NSW (Condobolin) but have been lucky enough to grow up and work in numerous areas throughout NSW and QLD.
I went to school in Bathurst NSW and completed a Bachelor of Agribusiness Economics at the University of New England in Armidale NSW. I was given the opportunity to join the NAB Agri Grad programme through a referral from a current employee, grabbed it and have never looked back.
How have you made a difference?
One of the most satisfying parts of my job is being able to assist the next generation of producers reaching and obtaining their goals of establishing themselves in their respective industries.
Seeing them achieve success is extremely rewarding knowing that we have been a small part of the journey.
I think the most significant moment in my NAB career was when my wife and I moved to the small community of Hughenden in North QLD.
The 4 years I spent in the area still to this date was the most valuable and enjoyable learning experience any banker could have hoped for.
I think a lot more people in the bank need to experience living and working in small communities such as these to understand what these places have to offer and what an important role we as a bank play in regional Australia.
What are you passionate about?
Family – We do everything as a family. I am extremely lucky that a lot of events that we attend for work in our regional communities are able to be attended by our families as well.
At the end of the day we work to provide for them and ensure that they have the best of what we can provide.
One of the best parts of my job is that a lot of the customers I work with know my family as well as they know me and they welcome them into their own families. That is extremely rewarding.
