Sonia is a working parent who's pushing the boundaries.
Name: Liam Terry
Your role: Mobile Banker, Defence Specialist
Region: Brisbane, Queensland
What’s your story?
I started at NAB three years ago having left another financial institution. I have made lots of great friends and have moved plenty of my customers into their dream homes. Prior to working in Banking, I was a successful real estate agent but the hours with my young family were taking a toll. When I found banking, I realised that plenty of what I had learnt in real estate would be very useful in the lending space. I am able to understand the process for my customers through the purchasing process, starting from contract negotiation techniques all the way through to settlement.
How have you made a difference?
I have made a difference at NAB through managing a NAB Big 30 Branch, making plenty of friends and of course making plenty of customers happy.
However, the biggest difference I have made is from my second job which allows me to dress-up and act a clown for children’s birthday parties, Christmas parties but most importantly – children and families in need. We have clowned around for Childhood Cancer foundation, Hummingbird house, Foster Care Pyjama foundation, Police families and plenty of others. Making kids smile even during the difficult times they’re facing is amazing. I joined Peebo and Dagwood clowns two years ago but they have been doing this for over 20 years, all while suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. Twelve years ago, after a successful lung transplant they were given five years to live, but that hasn’t stopped them beating the odds through laugher and happiness.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about taking the stress out of the home lending process, making this an enjoyable experience for all involved. I am passionate about my wife and children and showing my kids the world through travel and helping them realise how lucky we are every day to be doing what we are doing. I am passionate about making people smile even when they’re going through difficult times. I am passionate about sharing the story of Peebo and Dagwood as they are an inspiration to me.
