Meet Raelene

Name: Raelene Welsh

Your role: Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Region: Docklands, Victoria

What’s your story?

Geelong born and bred, I moved overseas for 16 years returning in 2015. When I returned to Australia, I was looking for a new challenge. I found it at NAB working as an Executive Assistant. I’ve had a long career in administration, but never at a financial institution as large as NAB so I had my work cut out for me!

How has NAB made a difference?

When I first started at NAB I moved all my banking over, and then six months later took out a mortgage to purchase my home in Geelong. I believe in supporting the company that backs me at work.

Last year, I took on the task or organising the first Customer Huddles in Finance with our Business and Private Bank Finance team. I led the huddles where the team talked through customer pain points, and identified where we, as finance professionals, could make a difference. I was able to encourage my colleagues to think about the issues our customers face and develop solutions to these problems.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about Formula 1 and I spend many a Sunday night/Monday morning watching the races. I’m lucky enough to have attended a number of Formula 1 races around the world. Having lived in both Melbourne and Singapore, I’m grateful that going to the races has always been a breeze.
