Tell us about your travel plans

Keeping your money safe is just as important to us as it is to you. That’s why we ask you to tell us before you leave on holidays.

While you're away, we'll keep an eye out for suspicious activity, and all you need to do is sit back and enjoy your holiday.

If you travel overseas and don't tell us, we can easily mistake your holiday spending for fraud. That's why we ask you to tell us when and where you're going.

Making large purchases overseas

Are you planning any special purchases while you're away? If you're thinking of buying any expensive items in stores overseas, it would help us know, so that we can help protect your card.

Using ATMs frequently while overseas

Let us know if you plan to use ATMs frequently while overseas.

Remember that your cards have daily ATM withdrawal limits and these will still apply overseas. Some ATMs may also have their own limits.

Just as you would at home, take care when using ATMs overseas. Always use ATMs in well-lit areas, and be aware of your surroundings.

If something seems suspicious, it probably is. If you're in any doubt when using a particular machine, locate and use a different one.

Use a PIN for your cards

In many countries, you'll need a PIN instead of a signature to authorise transactions on your credit or debit card.

If you have forgotten your PIN, or need a new one, contact us on 13 22 65 or visit a branch to arrange for one before you travel.

Always keep your card and PIN secure. Don't keep your card and PIN in the same place, and never leave your card unattended while you're making purchases.

Check your card expiry dates

Check the expiry date on your cards. If a card is due to expire while you're away, visit a branch or call us to organise a replacement before you go:

Take some local currency

It's always good to carry some local currency for smaller purchases and emergencies. Contact us for your foreign currency needs.

Airport Notifications

If you have notifications enabled for the NAB app, we'll send you a reminder to let us know about your travel plans each time you're near a major airport.

If you don't want to receive these notifications, you can turn them off in Overseas travel under Profile.
