What's the new upgrade all about?

To help you give your customers the best experience, we’re introducing American Express contactless payments to NAB terminals. Right now, your NAB EFTPOS terminal only accepts contactless payments for Visa, MasterCard, eftpos and UnionPay. With the new Version 29 software, you’ll also be able to accept contactless payments from American Express cards.

Over 1000 NAB Verifone terminals already have the new software to enable this installed, and we’ll be working on getting the rest up and running by early 2017.

So, if you already accept American Express cards, you’ll be able to accept contactless payments through your NAB terminal very soon. If you don’t already accept American Express cards but would like to, please call our Merchant Service Centre on 1300 369 852.

The software upgrade (Verifone Version 29) will be loaded up in a similar way to a CPAT update – which means you don’t need to do a thing. Just wait for the upgrade to be completed, and start accepting contactless payments from American Express cards.

Who’s getting it?

If you’ve got a NAB Verifone EFTPOS terminal, you’re already on the upgrade list and you’ll have the new features soon.

If you have an Ingenico Move 5000, you will already be able to accept American Express contactless payments.

If you have a different device, for example a Sagem, it might be a good time to think about upgrading. Call our Merchant Service Centre on 1300 369 852 if you haven’t already been contacted about upgrading your Sagem terminal.

Want to start accepting American Express?

If you don’t already accept American Express but would like to, it’s easy. Just call our Merchant Service Centre on 1300 369 852 to set your account up with American Express.

What about surcharging?

It’s not possible to apply a surcharge on any contactless transaction, including American Express.

Software upgrade rollout

Verifone terminals use random selection when rolling out new software. Unfortunately, this means that we won’t know when each terminal is due to be updated and so we can’t provide you an exact date.

However, we can help you find out when the new Version 29 software has been installed on your terminal. Once it’s been downloaded, the terminal will print out a receipt saying “Term S/W 01.00.29”.
