Interchange Category Definition

Scheme Card Issuer Fee The Card Issuer Fee ("interchange") is set by the card schemes (Visa, MasterCard and UnionPay) and is paid by the acquirer (the Merchant's financial institution, in this case NAB) to the card issuer (the financial institution whose name is on the card). The fee per transaction varies depending upon the type of card, type of transaction and the method used to accept each transaction. This fee is charged as a percentage of net sales ($) volume of all MasterCard, Visa cards and UnionPay cards processed and is charged monthly to your nominated account. For transactions where NAB is both the issuer and the acquirer, merchants are charged an amount equivalent to the interchange that would have applied to that transaction if the card used had been issued by someone other than NAB.
Service Fee The Service Fee is charged by NAB to cover costs which include transaction processing, card scheme fees, technology, risk, compliance and servicing costs associated with transaction processing such as scheme (referring to Visa, MasterCard and UnionPay) assessment fees, fraud and fraud prevention, merchant statements, and a 24-hour Merchant Service Centre. This fee is charged as a percentage of net sales ($) volume of all MasterCard, Visa and UnionPay cards processed and is charged monthly to your nominated account.
