Plan ahead for a safe trip

Remember your passport

Everybody needs a valid passport for international travel. Some countries require at least six months before the passport expires. You should check with the consulates of all the countries you're planning to visit prior to your departure. You may be refused entry if you don’t comply.

If your passport goes missing, it’s important to report lost or stolen passports, opens in new window as soon as possible.

Check to see if you need a visa

You may need a visa to travel in certain countries, whether you're passing through in transit or planning to stay and visit. Check with the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, opens in new window for information about visa requirements and how to obtain one if needed.

Check travel advice and warnings

Get country specific travel advice, opens in new window before you travel so you’re aware of the risks and precautions you can take.
