Protecting your card
It's important to protect your credit card account from unauthorised transactions. Things you should do include:
- sign your new card as soon as you receive it
- never write down your PIN
- if you change your PIN, avoid obvious numbers (eg. your date of birth or part of your phone number)
- when you make purchases, never lose sight of your card
- look for suspicious devices on ATMs or pinpads
- when you enter your PIN, make sure no-one sees what you're doing
- keep your receipts and check them against your statements
- when your card expires, or if you don't want it any more, destroy it by cutting it in half through the signature and magnetic strip and any chip
- never give your card to anyone, even family or friends.
Keep us up to date if you change your contact details, including your phone numbers and email address. This makes sure we can contact you quickly about suspicious transactions. You can read about changing your contact details on the Account changes page.
