What is the Resilient Building Council?

The Resilient Building Council (RBC) is leading a resilience revolution, where better housing for all contributes to thriving, sustainable communities. Currently 90% of homes in Australia aren’t disaster resilient, highlighting the urgent need for change.

NAB is proud to partner with RBC to develop tools that help customers better protect their homes and enhance resilience in the face of increasingly frequent and severe natural disasters.

How it works

Co-funded by NAB, the Australian Government, BlueScope, and IAG, the Resilience Ratings system and app provides homeowners with tailored action plans to strengthen their homes. These action plans are specific to their property and local risk profile. As tasks are completed, the home’s Resilience Rating is updated in real time, allowing homeowners to immediately see the positive impact of their efforts.

Homes with verified ratings may be eligible for insurance premium reductions with participating insurers, reflecting the reduced risk exposure. To date, households in the highest-risk areas have achieved annual premium savings of up to $800 through verified Resilience Ratings. As of August 2025, the app has enabled over 55,000 bushfire assessments and supported $187 million in household upgrades, working to create a safer, more resilient Australia.

Check your bushfire risk by entering your address and completing a self-assessment.

NAB’s commitment to the RBC

In 2025, NAB will continue its partnership with RBC to expand the self-assessment app’s capabilities to cover additional natural perils including flood, cyclone, storm, and heatwave.
