The Resilient Building Council - NAB

What is the Resilient Building Council?

Resilient building council logo

The Resilient Building Council (RBC) is leading a resilience revolution, where better housing for all contributes to thriving, sustainable communities. According to the RBC, currently 90% of homes in Australia aren’t disaster resilient, highlighting the urgent need for change.

NAB is proud to partner with RBC to develop tools that help customers better protect their homes and enhance resilience in the face of increasingly frequent and severe natural disasters.

Being bushfire-ready

Use the Bushfire Resilience Rating app to assess how prepared your home is for a bushfire. Watch our video below to learn how.

How it works

Co-funded by NAB, the Australian Government, BlueScope, and IAG, the Resilience Ratings system and app provide homeowners with tailored action plans to strengthen their homes against bushfire. These action plans are specific to their property and local risk profile. As tasks are completed, the home’s Resilience Rating is updated in real time, allowing homeowners to immediately see the positive impact of their efforts. The system translates complex hazard science into practical actions for households, with more than 63,500 (as at 31 May 2026) assessments already completed across Australia.

Boost your homes’ bushfire resilience and you could save on your NAB Home or Landlord Insurance premium. New and existing customers may be eligible for a premium reduction for homes with a certified Bushfire Resilience Rating of 3 stars and above to the building component of your policy premium. Learn more about the process of certifying your home’s bushfire resilience rating. Once you have your bushfire resilience rating certificate, share it with us via email at customerservice@allianz.com.au to see if you are eligible.
