How do I receive money from overseas?

To receive an international money transfer into your NAB account, you need to give the sender these details:

  • Bank: National Australia Bank
  • BIC/SWIFT code: NATAAU3303M
  • BSB (bank, state, branch) and account number: Refer to your internet banking or account statements. Please check these carefully – in accordance with Australian industry standards, payments made to an account number may be paid to that account whether or not the name of the account matches.
  • Beneficiary name and address: Your full name (no initials) and street address (cannot be a post office box).

  • Australian banks don't use IBANs.
  • Foreign Currency Accounts don't require a BSB. BSB 082-039 can be provided to the remitter if they request one.

Important information

* Funds are usually received within 24 hours by the beneficiary's bank if you submit your payment before the currency cut off time. See the full listing of currency payment cut off times. However, there may be circumstances outside of our control which may also cause additional delays.

^Overseas bank charges will also be payable. You can elect to pay overseas bank charges from your account, or deducted from the funds you send. If you choose to pay the overseas bank charges from your account, the amount of the overseas bank charges will generally be shown in NAB Connect at the time of transaction and the amount will be debited from your account at the end of the month. However, there are some limited currencies where you will not be able to pay for the overseas bank charges up front because those charges are not known at the time of transaction - in these circumstances, the overseas bank charges will generally be debited from your account at a later date. Notwithstanding the above, there may be exceptional instances beyond NAB’s control where overseas banks will directly deduct these overseas bank charges from the money you send.

Before applying, please read the NAB Connect terms and conditions and NAB Connect fees and charges (PDF, 297KB).
