Compare car insurance
Under our car insurance policies, there are two levels of cover to choose from: comprehensive or third-party property damage insurance. You will need to decide what level of cover is right for you.
Comprehensive car insurance
Comprehensive car insurance provides our highest level of protection, covering damage caused to your car by others as well as damage you may cause to other vehicles. It may also cover property damage, depending on your policy.
What’s included

Frequently asked questions about car insurance
-
In Australia, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is legally required, and it covers injuries to others if you’re at fault in an accident. It isn’t car insurance because it doesn’t cover damage to cars or property. To cover those risks, you can choose from third party property damage, third party fire and theft or comprehensive car insurance.
In partnership with Allianz, NAB offers Comprehensive Car Insurance and Third-Party Property Damage Car Insurance.
-
With Comprehensive Car Insurance, you choose an agreed value for your car with your insurer. If you need to make a claim, you’ll receive this set amount as a lump sum, regardless of how the market value of your car changes.
-
An excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. Your policy will list two types: a basic excess, which applies to every claim, and an additional excess if the driver is under 25. Adding the youngest driver to your policy can reduce the under-25 excess, though it may increase your premium. If you’re not at fault in an accident and provide the other driver’s details, you might not have to pay any excess.
