• To assess your application for a credit card we’re going to need to verify details of your income.
  • What we need to check varies depending on the type of income you’ve told us you have.
  • You only need to provide proof of income when it is not directly deposited into a NAB account.

How to verify your income

  • E-mail the required documents to Credit.Card.Applications@nab.com.au
  • Add your Credit Card application reference number in the subject line
  • Send your documents as a PDF or by taking a photo

Note: All documents need to be either in English or translated by an NAATI accredited professional translation service.

Documents to verify your income

Select the income category applicable to you for a list of acceptable proof of income documents:

Permanent Full-time, Part-time, Casual and Contract PAYG employees

To verify your income we require one of the following documents, (no more than 60 days old):

  • A current payslip, showing year-to-date income of at least two (2) pay cycles and both your employer and your name; or
  • Your most recent bank statement, showing your last two (2) salary deposits from your employer

If you’ve just started a new job and don’t have enough payslips yet, you can provide either:

  • A letter from your employer detailing your employment arrangement; or
  • Your employment contract, signed and dated by both you and your employer

Note: You only need to provide proof of income when it is not directly deposited into a NAB account.

Self-employed

To verify your income we require the following document:

  • An ATO Notice of Assessment (NOA) for the last financial year

If you’ve been self-employed for less than 18months, you can provide:

  • A letter from your accountant confirming your income

Australian Government Allowances

To verify your income we require one of the following documents:

  • Your most recent bank statement (no more than 60 days old), showing your Australian Government Allowances deposited into your account over the past six (6) months; or
  • A letter or statement (no older than 60 days old), from the Government Authority/ Agency making the payment, with your full name and the payments you’ve received over the past six (6) months

Note: You only need to provide proof of income when it is not directly deposited into a NAB account.

Superannuation

To verify your income we require one of the following documents (no more than 60 days old):

  • Your most recent bank statement, showing frequent Superannuation payments deposited from your Superannuation investment; or
  • Your most recent Superannuation fund statement, showing frequent payments from the Superannuation investment

Note: You only need to provide proof of income when it is not directly deposited into a NAB account.

Other Income types

Rental Income

  • To verify your rental properties income we require one of the following documents:
  • A current executed Lease Agreement; or
  • Your most recent Rental Statement, showing at least four (4) weeks rental payments; or
  • Your most recent Bank Statement, showing at least two (2) direct credits as rental income; or
  • A rental property schedule contained in a current tax, no more than two years old

Note: You only need to provide proof of income when it is not directly deposited into a NAB account.

Income Producing Assets (inc. Share Dividends and Managed Funds)

To verify income from your income producing assets we require one of the following documents:

  • A Shareholding certificate, current dividend statement or notice
  • A Managed Fund current statement or notice
  • Your most recent Bank statement , showing at least two (2) direct credits as investment income
  • A Share Registry advice
  • A Term Deposit certificate

Note: You only need to provide proof of income when it is not directly deposited into a NAB account.

Foreign (Overseas) Currency – PAYG (Base only)

To verify your income we require:

  • A letter from your employer detailing your employment status, employment start date and year-to-date income; and
  • A minimum of 2 consecutive individual payslips for a 60 day period, with your most recent payslip being no older than 60 days; or
  • A Bank statement no older than 60 days, showing salary credits for the 60 day payslip period
