In NAB Retail Banking, we understand that learning is a daily part of the job, which is why we offer comprehensive training, tailored to your role.
Onboarding
Colleagues who join NAB will be supported by a world-class onboarding experience to set them up for success. You’ll receive training on the essentials of banking and finance and hands-on practice – supported by your leader, colleagues and a learning mentor.
Upon commencing your role in retail and completing your training you’ll be supported to build competence within the role and learn to perform consistently. You’ll develop deep expertise in banking and finance while harnessing digital skills to shape the future of banking.
Ongoing training
After twelve months in the role, you’ll be eligible to undertake our Career Qualified in Banking accreditation program, a globally recognised certificate. Beyond this, you’ll receive extensive formal training while building on-the-job learning.
Throughout your time in retail, you’ll build on your foundational skills with additional upskills that contribute to your personal and professional development, which allow you to prepare yourself for success, whatever role you are in. You’ll work with your leader to consider the career path in retail that’s right for you.

As a Customer Advisor, you’re the friendly face customers turn to when they need help. You’ll make banking feel simple by listening, solving everyday questions and guiding customers through their options. You’ll build confidence with digital tools and learn how to make every interaction feel personal and genuine. This role is perfect for people who love helping others and enjoy working in a fast‑paced, people‑focused environment.

What makes this role meaningful
Become an everyday banking specialist who creates real moments of impact for customers. You’ll uncover needs, spark possibilities, and connect them with the right expertise when it matters most. And as you grow, so does your career. The Customer Advisor role is designed to progress seamlessly into the Senior Customer Advisor position.

As an Assistant Branch Manager, you’ll help the team do their best work every day. You’ll coach and support colleagues, help keep things running smoothly and step up to lead the branch when needed. It’s a busy, hands‑on role where you’ll build strong people skills and play an important part in creating a welcoming, customer‑obsessed environment. It’s the ideal pathway for those who enjoy supporting others and want to grow their leadership.
Your day in action
- Support the Branch Manager in coaching and leading the team.
- Act as second-in-charge and ensure continuity when required.
- Provide leadership support to other local branches.
- Complete Customer Advisor duties and assist customers with everyday banking.
- Drive growth while upholding risk and compliance standards.
