How the Business Banker Pathway Program works

Our program is for recent graduates who are passionate about building a thriving career in banking, where they can make a real difference in customers' lives. The Business Metro and Specialised team is looking for dedicated individuals who are customer-obsessed and eager to contribute to our goal of being the most customer centric company in Australia and New Zealand. 

Our Metro and Specialised team comprises over 900 business bankers in more than 36 locations across metropolitan cities in Australia. We’ve developed a deep understanding of business needs and provide specialisation in a range of sectors including:

  • Health
  • Commercial Real Estate
  • Franchising
  • Professional Services
  • High Growth Emerging Corporate

As Australia's largest business bank, you’ll play an integral role in supporting our medium enterprise customers, matching their passion for business with our skills and banking expertise to give them confidence to put their ideas into action. 

Our comprehensive training program and encouraging work environment will equip you with the expertise and skills necessary to establish and sustain a successful career as a business banker. On successful completion of the program, graduates will transition into a relationship associate, account manager or business banker role, supporting our business banking customers.

Eligibility for our Business Banker Pathway Program 

We’re interested in people who have a passion for delivering exceptional outcomes for business banking customers. 

 You’ll need to make sure you meet the following requirements.

Citizenship and visa requirements

You’ll need to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or be an Australian permanent resident at the time of applying for the program.

Tertiary education requirements

You’ll need to have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or be due to complete it by the time the program begins. 

Available to work in metropolitan cities across Australia

You’ll need to be able to work across metropolitan locations or be willing to relocate to one of the Business Banking Centres across Australia. 

If you have a preferred location, we’ll try to accommodate your wishes where possible. However, an ongoing ability to relocate will benefit your career progression within NAB, exposing you to different locations, industries and experiences.

Application and selection process

Applications will open late September 2025. To apply, submit an application form and complete the online assessment.

The online assessment involves logical reasoning, a multitasking assessment, and a personality assessment. If you’re successful, you’ll receive a call and potentially be invited to an interview to meet the team. 

If successful, you’ll receive a formal offer to start as a Business Banking Advisor, with our next intake to start in January 2026.
