Celeste has loved her time at NAB and when she's not working hard, she's writing or practicing her Italian.
Name: Anita Anasril
Your role: Business Banker – Small Business & Specialised Direct
Region: Docklands, Victoria
What’s your story?
I joined NAB back in 2008 to work with Australia’s number one business bank. I have always been interested in the banking and finance industry, having completed a Bachelor of Finance, majoring in banking and finance, at the University of XX. I initially studied science at uni, with the intended goal to become a nurse. However, I decided to switch courses after working at an export/import company during my holiday break. I thoroughly enjoyed the customer interactions and the idea of working in an office was more attractive to me.
How has NAB made a difference?
With my husband running a transport and earth moving company, I understand the challenges that small business owners face in terms of lack of time and human resources. It was important to obtain sound financial advice from our bank to ensure that we received the financial support to achieve sustainable growth for our business. With this in mind, I have curious conversations with my customers to understand how they operate their business, what is important to them in their decision making process and what they want to achieve from both their business and personal aspirations, as these are often intertwined. By understanding their objectives, I can tailor a financial solution to help them reach their goals sooner.
With one of my largest clients, who I have assisted in the past, I was able to understand his business strategy and what he wanted to achieve through his self-managed superannuation lending. My client was very impressed with my knowledge and the financial solution I provided. As a result, he decided to end his 20 year relationship with another bank and refinance all of his business and consumer lending with us. In addition, he referred me to one of his largest clients to assist with similar funding which I found very flattering and I was immensely proud of.
What are you passionate about?
I get a sense of personal satisfaction when I am able to assist my customers achieve their financial goals and aspirations, whether this is to purchase their first home, investment property or commercial property for their business to operate from. These are all milestone achievements. I am proud to be part of the Small Business team at NAB where we are able to Back the Bold, who move Australia forward - as small businesses are the engine of Australia’s economy.
Outside of work, I enjoy giving back to the community. Every fortnight, I and a group of volunteers from our local community, run classes for women from various areas. Classes include things like sewing, cooking, resume writing and interview techniques to financial literacy. We work hard to empower them to manage their finances effectively, to become financially independent and to be confident members of the community.
