Meet Sam

Name: Sam Van Leeuwen

Your role: Managing Partner, Mornington Partnership

Region: Dandenong, Victoria

What’s your story?

I grew up on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. In my spare time I’m running after my two little ones aged three and five.

I love working with people and I direct my time and energy to make sure I am focusing on what is important and what I can help with.

I joined NAB straight out of university as a graduate nine years ago. My father recommended I join NAB as he worked in the industry and knew that NAB places a lot of value in training its graduates, which turned out to be right.

How have you made a difference?

In 2014 I had a client that was referred to me from the NAB Direct Call Centre for a Small Business Card. The business relied on the creativity and attention to detail the owners invested, however they felt they were spending a lot of time in meetings with their current bank.

We took the time to understand the business and the customer decided they wanted to bank with NAB. Recently, I asked if they were glad they made the switch. The owner said yes because they now have more time to spend in their business, being creative. The business has since experienced strong growth, which the client is ecstatic about.

What are you passionate about?

By day I am a Business Banker and by night I love making up stories and wrestling with my kids and my eight month old dog, Harvey. I have a home gym which I spend time in, and I also love spending time with my wife and kids planning our next trip or family adventure.

Meet Jodie – her wedding raised over $1000 for the Cancer Council

Jodie makes a difference to people affected by family violence. We spoke to Jodie about how she is changing the way we help customers and the community.

Meet Dan – he knows helping customers manage their finances really matters

Dan cares about helping his customers to take control of their money, so they can see life beyond it.

Meet Bryce – he helps farmers ‘buy the paddock next door’

While Bryce now supports Australia’s farmers and their communities through his work at NAB, one day he dreams of having a farm of his own.

Meet Jessica - her Nonna was one of the first Italian migrants to Mildura in 1921

Jessica’s family instilled a strong work ethic in her from an early age. She now loves backing small businesses in her home town of Mildura.
