What are Payment approvals?

Payment approvals allow you to set up an account so it requires either one or two people to approve payments before they’ll be processed.

How do I set up my Internet Banking with Payment approvals?

Payment approvals can be set up via any NAB Branch or by contacting your banker.

Can I access Payment approvals on my mobile or tablet?

Yes, once an account is set up for Payment approvals you’ll be able to view and approve payments via any mobile or tablet.

Who can access Payment approvals?

Payment approval can be used by any customer who has registered for NAB Internet Banking.

What is a creator?

A creator is a person who has been given access to create payments only on an account that is set up with Payment approvals.

What is an approver?

An approver is a person who has been given access to approve payments on an account that has been set up with Payment approvals.

Which accounts can I set up with Payment approvals?

You can set up any personal or business transaction account with Payment approvals.

How do I set up an account with Payment approvals?

Payment approvals can be set up via any NAB Branch or by contacting your banker.

Can I manage who is set up as a creator or approver?

Yes, you can manage who is a creator or approver at any time by attending any NAB Branch or contacting your banker.

How do I remove a creator or approver from an account?

You can remove a person as a creator or approver at any time by attending any NAB branch or contacting your banker.

Why I am unable to add or remove an account from Payment approvals via NAB Internet Banking?

To make any changes to Payment approvals we require you to complete a form at any NAB branch or by contacting your banker.

How do I create a payment using Payment approvals?

You create a transfer, pay anyone payment, bill payment, multiple funds transfer or International transfer as you would normally. The payment acknowledgement screen will advise if the payment you have created requires to be approved by an approver.

What payments can I make using Payment approvals?

Accounts that have been set up with Payment approvals will require approval for transfers, pay anyone payments, bill payments, multiple funds transfers and international transfers.

How do I tell if a payment needs approval?

You’ll be advised on the Account summary screen if you have any payments waiting to be approved.

You can also set up an alert to remind you via SMS or email that a payment is waiting to be approved.

How do I set up notifications for Payment approvals?

You can set up to receive a notification via email or SMS by going to NAB Alerts in the Profile & Settings menu and selecting the account and the notification you’d like to receive.

How many approvers need to approve a payment?

You can set up an account to require either one or two approvers. You can view within the Account details screen how many approvers are required for each account.

How do I approve a payment?

You can approve a payment by clicking into the Payment approvals list within the Transfer & Pay menu and selecting Approve next to the payment.

How do I see who is a creator or approver on my account?

You can view the creators and approvers on an account from within the Account details screen on NAB Internet Banking.

What is the status of my payment?

Approvers can view the status of a payment within the Payment approvals list. Creators can view the status of a payment within the Payments list. Clicking on the payment within these lists will provide details on how many approvals are required and who can approve the payment.

What do I do if an approver is unable to approve a payment?

You can view all of the eligible approvers within the Account details screen on NAB Internet Banking. If no approvers are available to approve a payment you may need to add additional approvers by attending any NAB branch or contacting your banker.

Why can’t I see a payment created by someone else?

Only an approver or the person who has created a payment can view it within NAB Internet Banking.

How do I know when a payment has been fully approved?

The last person to approve a payment will see the payment confirmation screen confirming the payment has been processed.

Approvers will be able to see the status of a payment via the Payment approvals list.

Creators will be able to see the status of a payment via the Payments list.

What do I do if I’m attempting to approve a payment and it is over the daily limit?

Payments requiring approval will be included within the creator’s daily transfer limit and not the daily limit of the approvers. If the creator’s daily transfer limit has been reached in a day you’ll be unable to approve a payment set up by that creator until the next day.
